"We believe that the collective Black Christian Experience has much to share with the Global Church"

DR. EMMETT G. PRICE III, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Who Should Apply

Recipients of this award will be African-American students committed to serving the Church. Preference will be given to those in the M.Div. program or called to pastoral ministry.

How to Apply

Plan to be a full-time student at GCTS’ main campus in the fall semester. Complete a full application to Gordon-Conwell and a Merit Scholarship Application by February 15th.

Michael E. Haynes (Doctor of Divinity, 2003) is a Gordon-Conwell trustee. This scholarship is named in his honor and acknowledges a calling to ministry in the manner that Haynes has exemplified.

A confidant to the late Rev. Dr. Maartin Luther King, Jr and longtime pastor at Boston’s Twelfth Baptist Church (1964-2004), Haynes also served three terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives and for 16 years as a senior member of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Parole Board. He has served as an advisor for four governors, two mayors, two United States senators and one President of the United States. Dr. Haynes has served on the boards of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, Christianity Today, Day Star University College (Kenya), Northeastern University (Boston, MA) and the Lausanne Committee on World Evangelism.

Dr. Haynes continues his service on the Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary Board of Trustees and is a mentor to many.

To share with the global Church the powerful testimony, rich heritage and dynamic distinctives of the collective Black Christian Experience across (and beyond) the many denominations of the Black Church.
